Salary here - my contract does not specify how many hours. It is understood that some weeks I will work more and some less. No one keeps track. They know they can trust me to get the job done. The upside is I have a lot of flexibility which I need with having four kids. I also telecommute so that trust factor is even more important.

I like that! I do have to say, though Rob tracks his hours, it doesn't seem to really matter if he does the set hours in a week. Most weeks he does more, but some weeks he does less. He also has a super flexible schedule, which is awesome. He just came home and decided that he'll be home the rest of the day since he wants to do some yard work. As long as he has his cell phone, no one really cares.
Shawn's hours when he is home are about 9-5 - PLUS PT time from 6-8am every morning. However, he never leaves work at 5, more like 7.
Right now he is working from 8 am - 10pm/1am (early/late). That is 7 days a week now, too. For that increase in time, he is getting room and board (lol) and $575 extra pay a month... oh yeah, he also gets to hear bombs and such going off randomly. And he's away from us for 15 months to do it, too. Wait, he got a nice long plane ride, too.
My dh is a work-a-holic. In the office by 6 and not home til 6...and sometimes back again in the eve. He's always been like that. He says he has to work that hard just to keep on top of things....not even to catch up. We want more time with him!

All 3 kids together!!! Stephen, Izzi, and Griff. I love these guys!
Yeah my working habits are a sore issue in my house too. The kids and dh both feel I work too much - funny seeing as I work, pay all the bills, do all the cooking, shopping, laundry and errand running, and usually all the yard work. But if I have to work a little late and dinner is late as a result, watch them complain - not like they would actually start making dinner or anything - they just jump on the "you're a work-aholic" band wagon. Now and again I get fed up and throw a fit, so dh butters me up by buying pizza. Yippee.
Not currently, but DH used to work a salaried job and he often worked 60 hours a week. They were paid based on working 40 hours a week. Needless to say, it was frustrating.

This is why I'm glad that Rob's contract specifies and that he keeps track of it. And I'm glad there's a checks and balances thing. He can go to his boss (the rector) or the vestry (basically the church board) if there's a problem.
Dh is salary and works 45-50 hours per week, depending on the week. His bonus will also be in the several thousand dollar range, so no complaints here, lol. It's not specified in his contract how many hours he works though. He's a chemist so sometimes you can't just stop when the whistle blows.
My DH is on salary and probably works 55-60 hrs a week. On days he works from home, its 10 hrs. In the office, I pretty much keep him to 8 hrs. Before we had the baby, I let him work one late day that put him at around 12 hrs. And then several nights he spends 2-3 hrs in there after the kids are in bed. And then here and there on the weekends. He was never a workaholic before, but this job keeps him hopping. I am usually ok with it, but I really do like him available from 5-8ish to help with the kids. When he cuts too much into that time slot, I get b*tchy.

Dh is salaried. He just works the normal 8-5 work day Monday through Friday.
Sometimes in the summer he will work a few hours over but it is not a normal thing.

I totally agree with this. I rely on that time. When 5:35 rolls around and he's not home I'm instant cranky.
