Okay, down at the bottom of the page, it has the little "legend" that tells what all the pictures of the envelopes mean. So what does it mean if an envelope (these are the envelopes going all the way down the left side of the page, next to the threads) is gray with a black dot in the middle?
har de har har. That's EMO to you, Cathy. Actually, the last person who answered that said it came from the word emotional, and that's exactly the clues that Christopher was trying to give me when I asked him what it meant:
ME: What's that supposed to mean?
HIM: Figure it out.
M: How am I supposed to figure it out? Give me a clue.
H: Duh. Use context clues.
M: What's the context? Is it an acronym?
H: No, it's an abbreviation.
M: I don't get it.
H: eeeee-mooooo
M: I still don't get it.
H: eeeeee-moooooo-shuuuuuun-uhlllllllllll
M: Emotional? I don't get it.
Jamie, you could be right. After you said that, I went back to look for some posts I'd responded to. And guess what I found? YELLOW envelopes that were open with black dots on them. So I looked at the thread again and when I went back to the forum, it was the closed grey envelope with a black dot in the middle. Curiouser and curiouser......
I think when they're yellow with black dots it means that you responded and then someone else responded after you but you havent read it yet...maybe? Make any sense? I've never really paid much attention to them before!

closed and blue envelopes mean that you've either already read that thread, or you've marked the forum as read, or something of the sort... ie, they've been marked as already-read. Grey with a dot in the middle means that you've posted in the thread. If you have a dot in the middle and the envelope is yellow , then someone has replied to the thread after you, and you haven't read it yet. If the envelope is blue and has no dot , then either the thread is totally new, or it has a reply that you haven't read yet. If it's purple with a pink dot in the center, then you're on some other forum and I can't help you.

Thank you, Margaret! No wonder you're the Rocket Scientist!! So when I first got here, this thread was the open yellow envelope with a black dot. Now I'm going to go back out and EXPECT to see a closed gray envelope with a black dot. Thank you again for clearing up the mystery!!!
gosh, THANK YOU to the original poster for asking this.
i always thought that there was something wrong with the way i registered since it seemed that only the posts i replied to had these dots. i was so embarrassed!! and too chicken to ask.

Hey Carla! I was on Locust today -- went by Healing Hands Day Spa to get a gift certificate for my mom's birthday. What a cool place!!! And I never even noticed the Steel place before, but I saw it -- in the old hospital building? There are LOTS of houses in Denton right now -- to buy OR rent. This is the time of year when all the students go home for the summer. Oops -- Belle's up -- gotta run!!! Will pm you later on about Denton -- Glad to meet someone so close!
