Has or is anyone using BJ's HomeSat?

We are going to try it this year for the following subjects:
4th grade bible for both
4th grade reading for ds
3rd grade english for ds
1st grade reading for dd
We got our satellite, but dh hasn't gotten to work on it yet. I'm REALLY nervous about trying to record/burn/edit/whatever to the dvd's (LOL)
thanks

LOL I just posted to the testing thread...

This will be our 3rd year with Homesat. It's been a Godsend for us. I don't do all the classes, but the one's we've done have been excellent. My kids love them.

Blake was 3rd grade last year and the English class was so much fun. Mrs. Cox is very fun to watch, and she has a mouse names Razi (puppet mouse) that visits. There are 2 college kids named the Grammer Guys that are so funny to watch. I even came running when I heard them on LOL.

Have you joined the homesat yahoo group? It's a wealth of information, about everything homesat.

I just replied to you on the testing post (LOL) Zachary's in 4th grade and will be doing Reading 4, Bible 4 and English 3 and Brianna's going into first and will be doing Reading 1 and following along with the Bible 4. I was really hesitant to put Brianna into the Reading 1 b/c I think she could do half way through the year and maybe the beginning of Reading 2 and I didn't want to feel I was holding her back with the satellite. I went ahead and ordered the Reading 1, but I'm thinking of adding the Reading 2 class, so if I feel we need to move on I'll have those too (LOL)

LOL I'll answer you here. Blake is 9 and will be in 4th grade. He will be doing
English, Spelling and Math. When he was 2nd grade I had him doing handwriting instead of Math. Bryce is nearly 12 and will be in 7th grade. I know he will be doing Math, but I'm not sure what else.

When they are in elementary school, I try to stick to the 15 minute classes instead of the 30 minute classes. I'd rather teach those myself. Math is the exception, we watched it about 75% of the time last year, the other 25% I taught it myself.

ETA Be sure to join the homesat group on Yahoo. We have a 1 stop guide that will tell you everything you need to know about each class.

I did join the group, but I guess I'm worried about asking the same "newbie" questions that have been asked 1000 times before (LOL) Zachary wants to do the BJ's math, but I had heard they are a little behind, like maybe we should start midway through the year, I don't know.... I thought about just ordering the math to watch and continuing with our excel math (LOL) I'm looking for the math 4 used so if I find it I might get it

Oh don't worry about the newbie questions. We get them all the time from now till Fall. There's tons of info in the files section, so check that out.

What Math are you comparing BJU to? I haven't found that it's slow. If you go to the BJU website you can see scope and sequence for the math and compare them yourself.
