Companies who give a discount to homeschoolers...list them here

I don't know how to do these things. But, could we have a "sticky" where we list companies that give homeschooling discounts?? I keep hearing of stores that I never thought of and would love to have one big list!

We get a lot of discounts through the homeschool buyers co-op.

For the bookstores, I ask if they give an educator's discount. They all have a card they give ya.

Most want some sort of proof that you homeschool. If you have anything from registering with your school district or something that would work.

In my state we don't register with anyone or have any paperwork that proves anything. Many people print their own homeschool id card on their computer to use as proof. I prefer to go the hard route and educate the employees on the fact that there is no real legal proof that I can show them. They usually tell me that most people make up their own card. To which I reply, "what does that prove other than the fact that I have a computer?" They've always taken my word for it at that point.

You can apply for Joann's card online:

You can apply for a JoAnn's teacher discount card online. They have you register on a hs'ing site for an ID # then use that number for their card.

Barnes & Noble I just asked them for the teacher discount card. They wanted proof. I told them I was a homeschooler and they took my word for it. It couldn't hurt making up an official looking ID card for places that want proof.

For the Scholastic teacher store, they called me to verify hs'ing status.
