All that matters is homeschooling, right?

I was reading another post talking about secular homeschoolers and conservative Christian homeschoolers. I am a Christian but I am more middle of the road, Christian but not exactly conservative. I can understand feeling uncomfortable, for instance, when a mom talks about her child getting spanked for getting up in the night when you actually co-sleep and don't spank (been there done that). I guess what I am saying is, every person disagrees on at least one aspsect with all the other people (hope this makes sense) and does it matter what side of the fence you are on? Sure some conservative Christians are too old fashioned with their views, but aren't we all homeschoolers? Just trying to understand different points of view.

Thanks, Jennifer

We are part of a very small Waldorf homeschooling group, and even with this specific a grouping, we do not all see eye to eye on parenting issues. For me, what matters most is having other kids to play with who do not watch a lot of tv or engage in gun play or carryn around a gameboy. Someone suggested that really for just playing, conservative Christian homeschoolers and Waldorfers would proably do well together.
I guess what I am trying to say is that it depends on what you're hoping to get from the situation. For me, I am looking for playmates for my kids more than validation of my parenting or philosophy. Some people really need to see a reflection of what they are doing regularly to feel secure in their choices. Heck, I probably do, too, or I wouldn't have chosen this very small group for our family.

We've had a hard time finding out little niche. Most of the people I know who parent the way we try to, are parents of only a couple of children or have one baby.

Yes & No.

I have yet to meet a person who is hsing for the same reasons we are. Yet, yes we are all hsers. But, no we do not all get along. No more so that you would get along with every family in your childs class if they were in a traditional schooling environment. In fact I'd say less likely to get along with other hsing families because of the reasons we opt to hs. From religious, to anti establisment, to saftey, to intividual childs needs, more structure to less structure. That is a lot of different angles.
