I read the book series and loved it. I just reread the first book, because I wanted to have it fresh in my mind when I saw the movie. I saw a trailer for the movie when we went to see Stardust and it looked really cool. We will be seeing it as soon as it comes out. The books make more sense when read one right after the other. The world described in the first book is so different from our own that it can be hard at first to figure out hoe everything works, but the second book explains all that, as our world enters the story.
With any movie based on a book, I suggest reading the book first.

Well, I did not read the link (will do right after I post), but we watched it and I definitely saw nothing inappropriate there. DD, DH and myself enjoyed it very much.
Now off to see what the article is all about, maybe we all are oblivious to something....

That email and this movie almost split up our homeschool group. So many people feels strongly against their child seeing it, mostly because the author is an atheist and to quote my friend, "is a self centered, arrogant man who will not receive one dime from me or my family." The author said he wanted to move people away from God, and that set off many people. (Please correct me, I didn't see the interview of the author, getting this secondhand from my friend.) I am wondering if he meant he wanted to challenge people how they perceive God, kwim? That's a bad thing to some folks.
The kids and adults who read the book loved it, loved the series.
