bathing alone?

at what age do you leave them alone in the bath & not stay in the bathroom watching over them?

I let Grady and he's almost 6. I just started a few months ago. I have to tell him when to get out, otherwise he'd stay all day I wouldn't let Madison right now and she's 3.5, HTH.

Zoey turned 5 in august and i've let her be a few times while i've answered the phone, folded laundry in the other room etc. Sometimes i still ask her to sing for me tho. If Roman is in there with her I'm more vigilant but he's 2 and generally she can control him.

she showered by herself for the first time last week and even did her own hair.

Elizabeth is almost four and she'll take a tub while I sit in the hall. Our bathroom is so small and it gets super hot in there so I'll sit in the hallway and read while she's in the tub so I can still hear her and see her as well. I stay close but not hover over her.

My 6 and 7 year olds do it themselves in the bath and shower.. My 3 year old needs the shower turned on for her, then she just stands in there... and calls for me when she needs soap.. I don't trust her alone in the tub, enless she is in with one of the older ones... they do good with watching her and yelling if needed.. For some reason I am more comfortable with showers for kids alone

My 4 & 2yo stay in the bathroom themselves. I get them started- fill the tub, turn it off, wash their hair/bodies, but then let them play for a while. Maya has played by herself since she's been about 3.5 or so, and Ty's stayed in with her since he's been about 2. They are very noisy and I am never more than half a second away, so I feel comfortable with them alone in there.

My almost 3 and 4.5 year old bathe together...but without me in the room. They have since this summer when we moved to a house where the bath is just off the kitchen. They bathe while I clean up dinner.

DS is 4 and he bathes alone. I'm usually on the other side of the wall in the family room or I'm sitting in the hallway on the laptop.

I let my 3 yr old bathe alone. For the past year, I've let her and my older dd bathe together but without me there.

I'm in and out of the room (I still have to wash her, do the water, get her out). Our house is very small and our walls are very thin so I can hear her all over. She talks to herself and sings - if it gets quiet then I pop in.

Savannah has been bathing 'alone' since she was about 2. I'm usually in my bedroom folding clothes or something...i can see her but sometimes go get something out of the living room and come back.

i run the bath, get her in, wash her hair and then let her play.

She loves a long bath so I get bored just sitting in there.

My ds was around 3 when I didn't feel paranoid about something happening if I left him for a few minutes. He has always liked loooong baths and I usually sit in the hallway and read, knit, craft, because he likes me there to talk to him.

When the kids bathed together (which ended in the past several months because Rebecca is very interested in Justin's "peanut"), I would leave them for a minute to answer the phone, get a towel from the dryer, etc.

I don't leave Rebecca alone for more than a few seconds, and she's 2 1/2. Justin is almost 5 and he can be alone in there. He also takes a shower alone (needs help with his hair), but he's under strict orders not to touch the temperature controls, and to call me if it gets too cold. I'm more afraid he'll get scalded than that he'll drown.

Skylar takes his own showers every morning after he wakes up. He started doing it just after he turned 4. We've supervised him and saw that he does a great job of soaping up and washing his own hair and he can do it in a reasonable amount of time. He likes to be able to do it himself.

much love

Louisa's in the bathtub right now. The computer is in the next room. She talks constantly, so I know she's fine. I don't go downstairs when she's in the tu, but I feel totally comfortable being in another room where I can still hear her. Bathtime is one of the few times she'll tolerate being alone in a room, so I take advantage of the opportuity for a break. Sometimes she does want company, and when she does I read in the bathroom (or clean it!)

About 2 is when I will leave the room but stay upstairs. When Victoria was about a yr I would leave if she was with one of the big kids. Once they are good at walking I don't worry so much I figure they'd have to knock themselves out before they drown and I'd hear that so I'd wander in and out doing whatever but now I get a book and lay in bed reading or spend the time playing with the baby.
