she wants to wear 'big girl panties' to bed...but she's not ready...help..what to do?
so...we have started using the potty. she's doing great. wearing underwear ..aka 'big girl panties' and she's loving them. But...for her nap and at bedtime I have been putting a diaper on her. She wakes up wet from both.
I honestly don't have the ability to change wet sheets every morning or all night with a 4 month old too. Until she masters being dry..I need her to wear a diaper or the like.
What can I put her in? She cries when I put the diaper on her!

There was just a thread about bedwetting that had some great ideas Your little girl I think is about my Lilly's age, maybe a bit younger I think. We still put a diaper on her for bed, but if your dd is upset about it, do you think maybe you could try some trainers? How much does she wet at night... is she really soaked? Maybe some side snapping trainers with some microfiber towels? One of the mamas talked about having something and calling them "nighttime underwear" and having someone sew some side snap trainers.
Let me see if I can find the thread... and you could just use what would be useful to you. A lot of it was about older children and wetting the bed but I seem to remember some good ideas that might work for your dd. Off to snoop for the link.

she wets a lot at night...and actually a lot for her nap i think. she just turned 2 in may. i have some motherease trainers and i thought about using those with a microfiber towel in them..not sure if that would be irritating. i think the fact that she KNOWS they are her old 'nighttime diapers' makes it tricky. maybe if i just got some kind of new pull up diaper..hmm
This is what we did Of course we had to buy a pack of larger panties though. ALso Makenna didn't mind wear a Bumkins AIO to bed until just a few months ago.I have the prints and those were satisfying enough , I guess.
I just told my dd that the pull ups were her night time panties so she wouldn't get the sheets wet and she was satisfied with that...she is 2-1/2, but it worked from age 2 when she was using the potty fine during the day and she feels the wetness a little more than the diaper and has started waking sometimes at night to use the potty.

You know, I was paranoid about putting Linda--who is 19-months-old, mind you--to bed in only panties, since she would often wake up wet. But I decided to finally bite the bullet & do it. And she's peed the bed once. When she was a newborn, & when her sister was a newborn, I would sometimes put them down for naps nekkid so their bottoms could air dry. When I did that, I put them on a towel. Might be something for you to consider.
One thing to keep in mind is that, subconsciously, a lot of toddlers feel free to mess in diapers or training pants, whereas when they're in actual panties, they know they have to use the potty. Hindsight showed me that we extended Bobbie's potty training time by at least 2 or 3 months by being too paranoid to put her in panties when we went out, & using training pants instead. Linda is right now younger than her sister was when we did the bulk of her potty training, but she is moving along much more quickly because I'm willing to deal with the occasional mess of panties that she pees or poos in.
Ds went through the same thing. Since we used cloth diapers, for the most part, disposable pull-ups with characters and their underwear look were acceptable to him as "nighttime underwear". He was still co-sleeping at the time and I was not going to get peed on in my own bed (lol) so something had to be done. It wasn't very long before he was out of them. And they were also useful when we were going to be out of the house all day (especially if he was likely to fall asleep in the car).
Using pull-ups at night also helped transition him to his own bed. He wanted to sleep nakie and even though he woke up dry most of the time I had just gotten a featherbed and down comforter and wasn't willing to risk it in my bed. So I told him he could sleep nakie in his own bed. He's been in it (and nakie lol) ever since.
