Does your preschooler wake at night?

Veronica has never been a very deep sleeper at night and wakes about 3-4 times a night. She also can be very aggressive when she doesn't get enough sleep which is often.

We have started a new nighttime routine getting her to bed by 8 but find that even with all the mellow winding down, she still wakes during the night.

Have you had any experience with this? What did you do?

My oldest did that when he was a preschooler. Sometimes he would wake up and want something to eat...I'd give him a snack (usually applesauce) and he would fall right back to sleep. Sometimes he would wake up and want to sing a song - he'd sing a little then go back to sleep - weird, I know Sometimes I could just lay him back down beside me and he would drift off to dreamland. He has always been a very early riser so I tried to keep bedtime pretty early and consistent (not always possible but it helps). He's 8 now and just kinda outgrew it I guess. Now my problem is getting him to go to bed in the first place!

My dd Elizabeth is 3 yrs and 4 months old. She always wakes up around 2 or 3am and hops into our bed. I don't know why! She's always awoken during this time slot. Now she comes into our bed on her own. Most nights I don't even notice her come into bed but she's always there when my dh gets up around 5:30am! I haven't done anything about it...its never been a concern here. I suppose one day she'll just sleep in her own bed all night and I'llb e surprised!

My 4 year old normally wakes up 1-2 times each night.

Neither of mine slept through at all until 5 years old. Now Samantha is up about once a week. Beth is up about two times a month. Samantha's sleep improved when I finally got school to stop letting her take naps.

My boys (twins- 3 yo, 5 months) still wake up sometime in the middle of the night and come into our bed on their own too. I don't know what time they wake up and come into bed. I just know that I start in bed without them and then they end up there. They do come in at different times though. Sometimes they do wake up and ask for water because they can't find their waterbottle. We let them take a no leak water bottle to bed at night.

Lately it is no problem because dh is away for 10 weeks for Army training, but when he is home the bed gets a little crowded with 4 in it. We have some foam pads on the floor between the wall and bed and if the bed gets too crowded I move one of the boys to it, or dh will go sleep there.

I'm not too worried about it. I'm sure they will outgrow it when they are ready.

Maya will be 5 in January, and still wakes during the night. Most of her waking is to use teh potty, or she is cold, or hot, or lonely. Most times she will come to my bed, and depending on how deeply I am sleeping, lol, I will either let her stay or bring her back to her bed & just pat her back & soothe her for a few minutes,.
