What time does your (young) 2 yo go to bed at night?

DS is 27 months. For a long time now, his bedtime has been around 7-7:30, and that has worked out really well. But lately, there have been a couple of off-"schedule" nights where he has not gone to bed until 8-8:30ish. And those nights he seems to sleep better (fewer wakeups, sounder sleep).

Now, I don't think there have been enough of these nights to make a STRONG case for changing his bedtime, and the other side of it is that SOME nights, he's showing signs of needing to go to bed at more like 6:30! (real fussiness, serious fits).

So I'm just trying to figure this out and thought I'd check to see what anybody else does...

DS turned 2 June 30th. He has been going to bed at 8:00 forever. His average wake up time is 7:30. If he stays up late it seems like he wakes up earlier for some reason! So it is always right around 8:00

Noah goes to bed around 9:30-10:00 on days when he takes a nap. On days when I manage to keep him from sleep during the day, he's in bed by 7:30-8:00. Those nights are better. He's grown out of naps waaaaaaayyy earlier than the other two and it's a challenge for us, honestly. If he takes a nap, he's up much later than we would prefer, but he's AWAKE, yk? No whining, etc, but happily playing on his own. If he doesn't take a nap, he's exhausted by the time dinner is over and is more likely to throw fits, etc...but then he sleeps so much better and is much easier to put down to bed.

Not much help, but that's the crazy stage we're at. Maybe this sleep pattern changing is normal for young 2 YOs?

Connor is the first child that wouldn't bend to my will about bedtime, LOL. Bren and Ian were both in bed and asleep by 8 when they were 2. Connor and I go up to his room about 8:15, spend about 15-20 minutes reading and singing songs, and then I lay/lie (???? I ALWAYS forget which is which, LOL) down with him til he falls asleep about 9. We've tried many times to move his schedule back an hour or so, but it's never worked, he seems preprogrammed to fall asleep arount 9 and be up by 6:30, LOL.

we've been totally off routine all summer & bed time has been around 9 or 10, but with cole starting school, the are both going to bed at 730-800. i will get her to nap between 11 &1 so that it doesnt effect bedtime.
