Babies first Christmas/or other celebrated holiday gifts?

What are you planning for your baby?

I am making a cloth book for certain.

No clue what else. He will be 9 months then. I may just have to wait to see what I really think he would like. If I bought/made anything now, I would not be able to wait.

What are some of your first Christmas baby gifts?

We got Piper a "Babies First Christmas" dish set from Pottery Barn Kids. It had a tartan plaid around it and was, by far, my favorite thing she opened. She also got a great heirloom rattle Christmas ornament from PBK, from our friends. I think she'll appreciate that when she's older, but I love things like that.

We have also tried to get the kids a special doll. Mandysmom (I think that's her username) makes the cutest knotty dolls with hand painted faces and contoured cheeks. She did a custom one for Pi and I just ordered one for Jack.

Oh - and at Disneyworld (in downtown disney) they do hand painted ornamenents that are personalized. They're so pretty, and we'll need to get Jack one of those to go with the rest of the family's. I'd also like to find him some basic, chunky wooden cars or trucks. We don't have much boy stuff around here.

Leila was a few days shy of 5 months.. she got some rattles, bibs, a special mermaid doll from her big sister.. books.. can't remember what else.

It's not a gift for them, but rather for myself, but every Christmas I trace their hands onto felt, embroider their names and the year onto them and sew them onto our Christmas tree skirt.. so as they grow, we'll have a beautiful reminder of Christmases past.

Molly was six months old for her first Christmas, we got her books for her library and asked other people to do the same--she's got a nice collection now of classic children's books.

Great ideas!!

Cheryl, I did the same thing a few months ago (HABA toys) and was going to save them til Christmas. I didn't quite make it I think I will look for some more deals on HABA (got a couple in mind) and make a cloth book.

Jodi, I have my children make a handprint on our tree "skirt". They love to do this and compare handprints each year!! What fun!!
