B is saying lots of words these day. He amazes me everyday. So far he says mama, dada, bye bye, thank you, and cracker. Yesterday I was saying "Daddy, where are you?" and he'd say back to me "are you?" It was too cute! What are your little ones saying?

I just recently started a list of the words Ellery uses and I came up with 55 words and/or 2 word phrases! I was surprised myself considering both Kaya & Cody weren't saying half that amount at 2 years old. They are words that she uses consistently. I love it when she says Kaya. It's the sweetest thing.
Leila's not a spring baby - she'll be a year old on Friday, but she probably says about 50 words now and signs 7-8. She's actually the slowest of my 3 in terms of speech.
Vivian will be 18 months on Wednesday and we have an evaluation with a Speech Therapist that the state is sending over. A friend of mine who is a Speech pathologist said that at 17 months most children should have 50 words or sounds (such as animal sounds) under their belt. Vivian has about 5. It's difficult because Veronica was speaking well before her first birthday. H ard not to compare the two, you know?

My almost 16 month old DD says about 5-10 words(simple ones like "Mom" "dad", "hi and bye") and about 6 animal/object noises. She can mimic lots of words, but doesnt use them by herself, so I dont count those.
I am not worried at all. She is an only child and even though I talk to her all the time,I have gotten so good at figuring out what she wants, I dont think she has much of a reason to talk LOL
She does babble ALL the time, and when you say "what?" she repeates the exact same babble.
I spoke full sentences at a year, my brother didnt start even trying till he was 2.5 years old. There is a huge range of "normal" when it comes to language.
ETA: My mom always figured my brother didnt start talking because a I never shut up long enough to let him even try(we are exactly 2 years apart)
and b i would just tell my mom what he wanted when he was fussy/babbleing!
He still doesnt say much, he is just an extremly smart, quite guy.

Ack I feel like Brayden is sooo behind now. He says no words really. Sometimes maybe hi????
I told the dr. this and she didnt seem concearned by this. Now I am wondering.
Does he babble? Does he respond to sounds? Does he understand things you say to him (like if you say "where's your shoe?" does he get it?) Does he point to things he wants? How does he communicate his needs?

my january 2005 baby says about 10 comprehendable words. she "talks" all day long, but mostly i dont know what she is saying, but she does. she knows the cow says moo, dog says ruff & the kitty says meow. she comprehends everything i say though.
sully (apr 24,'05) says mama, doda(daddy), what's dat?, nunnun ( numnum) ,no , stop that, drink, more,Nash, and i think that is it.. Not much compared to his sisters at his age. bailee said so many I couldn't count, makenna was speaking full sentences by 14 mos.

He does babble a little,he does respond to sounds, and he can follow very simple instructions-like if i say where is your cup he will look around for it, or where are you feet. He does point a little.
As for communciating his needs, he cries,a lot,( and I have to guess what he wants) and grunts also.

well Miss O isn't walking and she isn't talking either and she is almost 14mo. She says "mama" and "daaaady" but that is about it. I thought I heard her say "did it" and "gramma" but I don't know. I struggle to hear and make it into something. She grunts a LOT!!!! And says "ohhh". She has many signs though and understand many too. She understands us too and uses her hands to wave and gesture and then there is always screaming, nicely, if you believe that to get our attention.
