Rachael! I didn't realize you had your Sylvie on April 8th too!!!! My Faith and Gwen's Zella is 4/8 too! I guess we had our own little baby boom that day! I missed that!

okay the EC...my sister Colleen (sillygoose) used this with her last baby, she's now 20 mos and goes potty. Has for quite a long time actually. It was very cool to see your 3 month old neice pooping on the potty. LOL Hilarious too!
Planning on starting with Faith in a month or so. Summer time will help.
I had a conversation about this with a very prominent ped from India about EC. He's just appalled at the way most american mom's are so unattached to their babes~(not any of us, of course LOL) he says we "can't/don't/won't *hear* them"...elimination communication is so very common in many other countries. He convinced me to get Mary Grace to start to "go to pot" around 12 mos for introduction, she was pretty well using the pot by 20 mos. He says when you start in early infancy it works much better.
PM my sister about it...I'm pretty sure she's got some great links on EC.
HTH

ETA: And WHERE are those pictures!?!?! Let's see the babe!!!

I have a friend that used it and it worked well w/ her ds until he was about 11 months old & started to walk but then I think he went to diapers full time. I tried a little w/ my dd and caught one pee. I never really knew when she wanted to go. I'm not sure if I'll bother this time but it could be nice.

I just wanted to say I was surprised when I realized you named your dd, Sylvie. When I was in french class in high school that was the name I picked to be called. I never thought I would hear/see that name again outside of France. I love it though.

My understanding is that it is common for babies to hit "busy" phases and kind of quit signaling, but if you stick to it, they settle back in. This has been happening with my friend's 11 month old, too. Also, I knew about ec with my other two kids, but it sounded ludicrous to me. It was not until I saw my friend doing it that I understood well enough to try it.

I have another question and I will pm sillygoose when I am not typing onehanded. But since I'm here, here's my question. Last night, I tried pottying Sylvie because woke me up three times when she was dry. One of those times, she simply was not awake enough to get her muscles to potty. So 20 minutes later, I was up changing her diaper. Will this get less true later? Will she get to a point that she will respond to the cue without needing to be quite awake?

Yes the 8thy was a busy day, butI was able to follow Gwen, but I did not know about Faith until a couple of days ago. And thanks for noting the name. Wehave already gotten alot of flack from our families.
