Question fave diaper rash/yeast treatment ?

dd has a yucky diaper rash...i have been using zinc on it as a barrier...and it hasn't improved...so i am going to assume for the moment that it is yeast. it looks just like the yeast rash on the dr sears web site.

any favorite treatments for it?natural or pharmaceutical?

she wears cloth dipes and wool covers. i am using a bulb syringe and warm water to clean her bottom-it seems like her poo is irritating to her bottom...as it is the worst there. i change her dipe as soon as it is wet or poopy...

i will sun her dipes when i get a chance-in the meantime i have been washing with 15 drops tea tree...

i am wondering if she is reacting to the detergent i am using-but it is unscented for sensitive skin and i use baking soda in the wash and vinegar in the rinse...

am i forgetting anything...
?

thanksnak.............

You can give her acidophilus. They make some especially for children. You can also put it directly on the rash. To give an infant acidophilus, just get some of the powder on your finger and put it in her mouth. I gave it to DS alot, as we had recurring yeast troubles due to antibiotics in the hospital. Unfortunately, the only thing that seemed to clear up the rash was that nyastatin stuff that I got with a Rx from the ped. If it's yeast, the other things probably do not matter.
My friend's DS had a rash she couldn't get to clear up, but it wasn't yeast. It turned out his skin was staying too damp. So, every few diaper changes, she cleans him with witch hazel. I hadn't heard of this before, but maybe it's common knowledge. Good luck!

know what's in your laundry detergent

I know this thread is old, but I thought I'd reply anyway. I also use cloth dipes, wool soakers at night, and I use a laundry detergent with tea tree oil in it. My detergent comes in an unscented version, although I don't use it - I use the regular version.

But anyway, I always advise people to know what's in the laundry detergent they use. Well, in ANY product they use! Many laundry detergents out there, even the unscented ones, still contain harsh chemicals which can irritate tender bottoms.

turns out it was food intolerance. No problems if I avoid certain foods!!! I use cloth and wool as well...and biokleen detergent. No nasties here.

Thanks for the replies.
