Re: Would you refuse to buy from/trade with/sell to a mama whose religious beliefs differed from you

Okay, when I said voted yes, but meant to vote no, LOL, I was thinking ONLY of buying things through this site.
However, in my daily life, I definitely use the power of my meager $$ to make statements about what I do and don't believe.
I grew up in Lynchburg, Va., (still live right up the road) home of Jerry Falwell. You can love the man, think he walks on water, but I don't. I've seen and heard first hand the things that come out of his mouth and the fallout from them. When I go into town to do my shopping, I do NOT patronize businesses that I know support him. Not because he's a Southern Baptist (half my family is Southern Baptist), but because, in my experience, he and some of his followers are the most hypcritical, back biting people I've ever encountered. If I see one more WWJD sticker on a Lexus, I'll scream. WWJD? He wouldn't be driving a freakin' $30,000 car while others starve! Just my opinion.
On the other hand, I have met people who go to his church and University who are remarkable and wonderful and actually, disagree with him.
I also don't buy from companies who test on animals, don't pay their workers dirt, or who use child labor. I only buy clothes made in the US and certain European countries or second hand. Same for shoes.
I won't buy from Nestle either.
Now, would I ever NOT buy from someone simply because they were Jewish, Christian, Muslim, whatever? No.
If they were also a sexist, pornographer, child abusing, miscreant? Yes.
So, my answer is different than the question asked. I would never discriminate solely on the basis of religion or lack there of, but I do discriminate based on the companies and caliber of people withinn them.
Hope that made sense and didn't make too many of you mad.
If you are truly offended by what said about Jerry Falwell, well, I can't help what I've learned through my own life experience. I'm not asking anyone else to feel how I do....just explaining my feelings.
