I agree.
The fact that he is our first black president was nothing more than an added side bonus. BUT once he was named our president elect, it because profoundly clear what we have just done. Everything else aside, we have just elected a black man as president. *blink* This is an Abraham Lincoln, man on the moon, signing the Declaration of Independence sort of moment.
For the immediate, he is the man that I believe can mend a nation and open the arms of the world.
"I am reminded every day that I am not a perfect man....."
These words resonate in my head and heart.
Humility and humble, not force and power.
