I just want to say, and I HOPE this comes across ok...I have friends who I do not agree with life stuff 100% IYKWIM. They are good friends to me for what they are capable of giving and receiving...and for the things we have in common. Some friends who I adore I can only take in small doses because they live SUCH STRESSFUL lives...everything is a crisis. SOme friends I don't socialize in the evenings with because they drink a lot more alcohol thatn I do...but they are super friends other wise. Some friends I only talk about the stuff we have in common...and the rest we just let lie.
Something useful for you to tap on *might be* whatever negative feelings you have about them trying to 'save' you. Believe me I am not a church goer, if I were it would be Unitarian...so I understand. Also, I understand what a bind this is, because they think you are going to hell for the way you live...My INlaws are catholic and they have talked to their (very progressive) priest about 'us' because according to their belief system we are going to hell. It worries them a bit. But their priest is brillant enough to tell them that we each have our own path and who is to say the Catholic one is the 'right' one. hehe.
I am sure there are beautiful blessings in your adversity. Yes, being in a small town for 5 years and not feeling close to anyone is adversity in my eyes.
And..I posted recently about the law of attraction. Maybe look at the people you are friendly with and think about only the positive in them if something negative starts bugging you. And see if that changes how you see things. IT is a very powerful way to look at the world I am finding. It keeps us from feeling it is *us* and *them* and makes it more we are all one...
Now, please understand I am thinking out loud. I do not pretend to have the answers...and I do know how hard it is. We are possibly moving to a very small town soon and I have your concerns for our family as well. I might end up homeschooling..lol!
