A poem about my 3mth old daughter

I wrote this last night when I couldn't sleep. It is about my 3 month old daughter.

My Daughter

I hold her in my arms
As I gently caress her little hands
They are softer than the petals
From a new spring rose
Blooming in the morning sun.

She is my daughter

I nuzzle my nose into her soft hair
I breathe in its sweetness
As if it were a field of flowers
Planted in rich, dark soil atop her little head
It is a sent that no one can resist.

It is the sent of a baby….my baby

Her forehead, her nose, her little chin,
A softly rolling meadow
Her eyes are the sunbeams
That appears over the horizon
Just at the mornings first light

She is breathtaking

Her little chubby legs are fluffy white clouds
Floating through the summer sky
Her little feet are as precious
As little chicks just hatched from their shell
Wiggling with excitement

She is alive with beauty

Her little laugh echoes through my heart
Like canaries sweeping through a valley
It fills my belly with happiness and warmth
Erupting like a volcano
For just a moment, the whole world is at peace

She is my happiness

I pull her close to my breast
Her warm little mouth opens to accept my nourishment
My milk flows freely, sweetened with love
I am mesmerized as we gaze intensely into each others eyes
Knowing that too soon, this will be just a memory.

But she will always be my daughter
