What a great thread - some wonderful ideas! My dd is only 8.5, but she really looks forward to menarche and talks about it all the time. Just this morning (I think it was this morning - maybe it was yesterday; I have pregnancy brain) she came in all excited and said, "Hey, mama, do you know what the special number on sesame street was this morning?? 13!" And I made some non-committal "uh-huh?" (meaning, yeah, so what? lol) and she looked at me like I was so dense. "Mama, 13! Bleeding time!! I can't wait!" What a crack-up. And such a perfect example of the whole stage, too, that bridge between childhood and maidenhood; sesame street, a show for toddlers, making her think of menarche! What next??

I totally hate spamming, but I do really like my menarche doll (Denise mentioned hers up above): you can see her here: Luna

I am grateful for the rest of the ideas, too - obviously my dd is going to expect one heck of a celebration, and these are perfect ideas for her basket.
