Okay, my husband and I are haveing a huge debate over Islam....he believes that it is a very bloody religion w/ the edict to convert or kill everyone. I find this hard to believe, but I really do not know. He even told me that Muslims in the US who contradict this have not thoroughly studied the Koran. Help!
Links, anecdotes, etc. welcome.

I do not want to start an Islam-bashing thread, just want some more information.
