I would like to breastfeed, if/when I have a child.

But, I am currently avoiding many medications/supplements for TTC. And, I'm not sure I can go years without for breastfeeding.

I feel guilty and I'm not even pregnant!

Iirc the strictions for nursing are not the same as being pregnant. I would find a copy of Hales if you needed more info. Or read where ever you are reading now.

I would also encourage you to take it one day at a time. Instead of thinking about going "years" just get through this period. Check and see if you can take some meds while bfing (Hales is a great reference and there are several lc's on the board that I am sure would answer any ?'s you have). Then set a goal for bf'ing, can you plan to bf for a 3 months, then reevaluate for another 3 months and so on. Most of all let go of the guilt. We know bfing is best but there are many wonderful mothers that can't or don't bf and their babies are thriving.

Robin, thank you. That helps. I can just plan to breastfeed, for as long as I feel healthy enough to go without stronger meds.

    Now, to get pregnant. :)
