And given the particular day, I think it is quite auspicious. ;)

Tonight, we will grill and have a bonfire.

We will be putting in onions, potatoes, spaghetti squash, patty-pan squash, pole beans, beets, turnips, carrots, romaine lettuce, spinach, chard, leeks, tomatoes, cukes and brussels sprouts.
Herbs will be rosemary, basil and thyme.
I have a hay-bale experiment going on as well. I am going to use it for our pumpkins.

Between that and all the peach and apple blossoms, I am very encouraged for a full and varied harvest!

    Awesome.

Do you have good luck with carrots? I can grow turnips out the wazoo but carrots escape me. Maybe I'm planting too early and letting too much hot summer affect them. The greens bolt and the root is tiny.

We have moderate success. We sow near the end of May and they seem to come along. I don't touch them until September. The first year we did carrots, we got impatient and tried harvesting about 3 weeks too early. Tiny carrots.

Now we just have to get over our fear of thinning. lol

    Exciting!

Thanks for the carrot tip - I've had issues with them as well.
