Wonderful Sleep

He is five. He is beautiful. And he loves to cuddle.

Our son began sleeping with us as soon as we brought him home, just as
his older brother and sister did. It was more of a comfort to us,
knowing that we could feel if he moved, anticipating his needs and
being ready to feed or change in a split second. And the breastfeeding
was so easy. It was a literal grab-n-go at it's finest! Quick, easy,
and fresh fast food.

And the snuggling began. I remember laying so close to the back of his
head that I could smell his tami's soap-cleaned hair. And as he grew
older, around age 3, cuddling became our alone time. It was time to
share about the day, to pray and talk. I still cannot think of a better
way to start your day, than to open your eyes in the morning and see a
beautiful face peacefully sleeping and dreaming.

Of course, it makes private spouse time interesting. But it forces you
to be more creative in your private time. You can always find some
where to go, steal a moment here or there... It redefines what a bed is
for, and what a sleeping relationship can be.

Some nights, before bed time, our 5 year old will wrap an arm around
each of us and say 'mama' and 'daddy' with almost a sigh in his voice.
I can tell he feels so warm, comforted and loved.

Recently, I have realized that this will not last forever. These
snuggles and hugs, and face rubs, and our youngest saying 'oh mommy,
you are the beautifulest as he looks at me and has his arms boa'd
around my neck, will not last much longer. Time will push our bright
blessed days and dark sacred nights into the relm of memories... but I
will always cherish our nights and mornings together and think to
myself- What a WONDERFUL World...
