Brad - this is because we DON'T know you. you aren't a member here that we have posted with for years (see now why I said I disagreed with your stance on owner not being member was better?? LOL)
you don't know who Tawnya is. who patsy is. who forrest or syndey are. You don't know why we joke about mac & cheese with hotdogs and kool-aid
you have nothing invested in this board except money.
we don't trust your answer because we don't even know if you are worthy of that trust. your words are just words on a screen. actions speak louder than words. so you have to accept that there is going to be some distrust. there is going to be some fear. and then prove us wrong.
word. You have to understand that a lot of these mamas trusted Joli. She totally betrayed that trust. The wounds are still fresh. You are new, we don't know you, you haven't earned our trust (quite the opposite so far, actually) so why should they take you for your word?
I do not expect an answer, I'm not trying to argue with you. I'm just trying to get you to understand.mama to 7 kids, WAHM and student...

Makes sense. I don't think it is my place to know those things, but I understand your point.

but in our eyes, it is.
the owner has always been a member. has always been one of us. this is a very unique board in that manner when you compare to others you are used to.
that is why it is so hard for us to just say OK when you say "trust me" we don't know you.
so give it time. by your actions: following through with what you say etc...that will get us to believe what you say.mama to 7 kids, WAHM and student...

If the private forums stay private with similar criteria for membership, and we retain the ability to edit, I would preronally vote for keeping the private forums. Anyone who wants they're stuff gone can delete it, just like before...no harm, no foul.

I am okay with wholesale deletion if necessary, because I understand the need for some mamas; that said, I would also be happy to keep our safe places for really sensitive subjects and things like posting our kids' pics for those of us that don't want to put them out there anymore.

I agree.
My personal opinion is that Sisters be wiped out and started with a clean slate. I really don't know about the other forums...I don't even really know that much about them. Are there acutal private forums with post requirement besides Sisters? I guess I've never paid much attention to them if so.Wendy

But what if it is funny, OT and insulting at the same time? Not even a hint of a smile?
What if we wait until search of old posts is restored and then give people, say, a week to C&P what they want and then it is all gone.
Do we as a community want old posts gone or that forum in general? i.e. sisters posts deleted or sisters itself gone.

if sisters were to be deleted entirely, i'd be fine with that if we were going to start it fresh. i'd be okay with not getting rid of the entire forum, too, though. i think scarlet makes a good suggestion.
and i swear i won't make any cracks about the search function

Do NOT delete my posts. I have a right to have my posts preserved. I don't want anyone to have the right to delete my posts. If someone started a thread and wants to delete the entire thing (my replies included), that's ok. But no one should wipe out an entire subforum that includes things I posted. I really don't like that idea.
I think that we should be able to edit posts (our own posts). Is it possible to say that all posts before a certain date can be edited forever and then set limits after that date?
DO NOT delete my posts.

Directed at me? I only meant it as a warning, not a taunt. This really is different than any other board you've run.
Yes, we care who owns it, who runs it, your name, everything about you, but you are not willing or able to share. So the worst has been assumed.
Anyway. Good luck. I said what I thought but I don't think you get it.~Meg~ sahm to my trio of little women (6, 8, 19) happy wife to Mr Big

I'm missing something--if we have the ability to edit, then why do we want/need sisters to be deleted?
And Brad, is the ability to edit going to stay forever?
