I need Potluck Christmas Party planning help!!!....

We are planning a potluck Christmas party for December 11th. I want to get invitations sent out soon, but I'm not sure how the wording should go so I need help with that.
I'm also not sure what we should supply? A turkey? Drinks? Dessert?
I'm just not clear on potluck etiquette. Any help is welcome!
    Thanks!

Not sure on the invitation wording, but I think you can do it however you want! Is this a party on Christmas day or just Christmas season? We've had a caroling party in our neighborhood for years that started out kind of formal... the host (which rotated) would provide a baked ham and drinks and assign other foods. It has evolved to being pretty informal... everyone brings an appetizer and/or dessert. There's always been enough food to make a meal of it.

eta. Just re-read your post that it's before Christmas

I will be watching this thread as we have decided to do this for our xmas. Its at our house so I was thinking I would do a turkey/stew that you can spoon over biscuits, (kept in a crock pot), and just let everyone know they can bring what they want to go with it.Salad, veggie dish, potato dish.
Mama to ds 19, dd 9, dd 9 ,and ds 5...and one on the way 04/12/11 !!
