DD has a fever of 104.2!!!
When I picked her up at school yesterday, she said her brain felt like it was spinning and something was biting it
She had a temp of 101.8 last night. I gave her Motrin yesterday afternoon because her head hurt so much she was in tears
This morning, she woke up and said her head didn't hurt anymore, but she was still HOT. I gave her a cup of juice and she drank it right down. She's been drinking like crazy this morning and she was just getting more and more lethargic. I decided to take her temp about 10 minutes ago and it was 104.2! The poor thing is miserable! I don't usually treat fevers unless they are over 102, so this definitely fits the bill. My poor little princess. She also has a deep, body rattling cough; it sounds so painful. I don't know what else to do for her.Christy

I'm so sorry, it could be the flu. It tends to cause headaches..but is she having any sinus trouble? I know a lot of families are getting pneumonia this winter too...not sure if that would cause the headache though. With it being that high, I'd probably recommend taking her in to the pediatrician to make sure it's nothing serious.

Well, the motrin brought her temp down from 104.2 to 103.4. Not much of a drop in over an hour
The ped said the other kids she's seen with these symptoms, have been sick with very high fevers and a cough lasting 3-5 days. Yuck.Christy

I'm so sorry she's going through this.
My 20 mo ds has had a constant fever for the last few days. Last night it was 104, and that was WITH motrin. We went to the dr. yesterday, and the bloodwork showed it was just a virus, probably a cold. Luckily, today it's down to 101.
Hang in there, mama! I'm anxiously awaiting a fever break too!

Motrin is not supposed to break the fever, just bring it down a bit.
Personally, I'd let it run w/out meds - her body is creating the fever to fight the bug - meds inhibit that.
 I hope she feels better soon.
Btw, homeopathic Belladonna is great for fevers.

I wouldn't let a fever stay that high IMO. It is too easy for it to spike into seizure range from that high.
I would take DD in to get her chest listened to. Pnemonia can happen very fast in children and going with a fever that high and a whole body rattle cough... I would worry IMO. (This coming from the mama who has had her little in hospital 2 x for going from 'cold' to 'bronchial pnemonia' in 24 hours.Andrea

No
DH went upstairs about an hour and a half ago and Abi was lying on the hall floor. DH asked her what she was doing there and she said "I came out of my room but I can't remember why, and I just wanted to lie down"
I gave her some Tylenol because her head and eyes hurt, but it's not doing much for the fever. She's sleeping now and I just went in to check on her and she is still burning up.Christy

oh poor thing. What ever this is going around is wicked!! My dd woke up with it on x-mas day and had a temp of 103.5. She ran a fever about every 6 to 8 hrs. Everyone I talk to is either getting over it or has it. My bestfriend was in the hospital cuz of it (temp 105)
I hope she gets better real soon!!

She just woke up and she's still feverish. Two of my boys are getting *somethng*; they're coughing and complaining of sore throats. No fever yet, but it's probably just a matter of time. :eyes:
