still ISO a teamaker; would a french press work? please ck. out these links for me!

indulge me, mamas, please! i have yet to find a teamaker that does a lot of tea at once, that will accomodate a lot of loose leaves at once, that is NOT plastic, etc.

i found these at amazon-- what do you think? do you think a french press would work? i usually steep the leaves in my glass jar overnight-- could i do that in these?

    thanks for your advice!

    this one's a tea maker:

I have used the bodum for tea before-chai actually. Letting the tea sit for so long doesn't make it bitter??

hmmm... good question! i dunno, i always sweeten it w/ stevia. it's RRL and nettles, so it's gonna be bitter anyway... and when i first learned about infusions three years ago when i was pregnant w/ dd and my midwives told me to drink this loose leaf combo, that's what everyone told me to do-- at least four hours or overnight to get the most nutrients out of the leaves.

what do you think? do you think the bodum is the answer to my prayers? i just throw the loose tea in and let it steep, right? and then when i want it to be done steeping, i do the press thing and then pour it out?

    thanks!

I use the french press for my RRL pregnancy tea. I let it steep and then press it. Once it is pressed, you don't have to be concerned about it still brewing. Those ones are really nice! I have a fairly inexpensive Bodum style one like this....http://www.amazon.com/Bodum-Brazil-U...&s=home-garden
You could also just pour it into a pot and once it is done steeping, pour it over a tea strainer. That would be a cheap route, but a bit messy imo.

oooh those are nice!! If it were me, I'd need the 2nd one (bigger). My teapot hold the same (48oz) as the big one and I can drink it myself. Actually, here lately I've been making 2 pots of tea per day for just me. The smaller one only holds 20oz.

    thanks, mamas!

    questions:

    1. delia, how long do *you* steep the RRL tea for? is the french press easy to use/clean?

    2. dannielle, obviously, i've given up on the all-in-one deal; i've resigned myself to the fact that i'll have to use the teapot, too. i definitely do NOT want to use a tea strainer anymore, though! so the one you sell in your store holds as much as the larger boden one?

    thanks!

My midwife told me to pour boiling water on the leaves and steep it for 20 min. Then I plunge the press part and drink it until it is gone. To clean I pull out the plunger part and dump the leaves in the trash and rinse off the plunger under running water. Easy imo. If I had a garbage disposal, I would put it down that. If I was better about composting, I would put it in that! LOL! Off to make some now.

No, when I said "my teapot", I meant my personal teapot. It's identical to the ones I sell except mine is bigger (mine is 48oz). The teapots on my site hold 39oz.

I really like the press idea. And I love how unbreakable the stainless steel would be.
