I've PMed you, Kris.. but I'm going to post here too

I've always pretty much stuck to clay or salt dough - and my thought is that either would be way too heavy to mail, plus would have a high rate of breakage. I looked at doing something with terra cotta pots, and that would have the same issues. I've done stuff in the past out of plastic canvas and yarn, but given the issue many have with plastic.. I'm not seeing that as a real option.
Okay.. I've been having a really really hard time the last 6 weeks or so, as everyone knows. I'm not sure what to do, but I want something that is fairly easy to do in terms of having good results most of the time. I'd hate to spend hours and hours on something and then have it be a miserable failure - I'm just not in a good place for that at the moment. When I say easy, I'm not taking about something fast - I'm referring to something that would have a decent success rate for someone who has never used that medium..
any ideas or suggestions for me? I'm very, very basic at sewing.. and used to do scrapbooking.. aside from that, everything else I'd be considered a crafting virgin at.

Aw..Kris
I feel the same way to though..we have A LOT of crafting talent and caring mamas here:hbeat:
Jodi...I do not have an answer for you hon. Can you needle or wet felt??? I cannot sew very well either so don't feel bad
Oh..and I forgot..when I looked at my supplies..it was NOT tree trunk homes I was doing..but a cloud in the sky home... I will have to post some pics when I get them done...I have started on the Dandelion homes..and they are cute...tee hee

Jodi, have you thought about using the birdhouses that they sell at Michael's? Then you could paint them up and maybe pop off that round hole they stick on the front so that the fairies can go in and out. :rainbow:
One of the reasons that I dropped so many swaps for next month is because I knew how much time the fairy houses were going to take for me to get done. I'm a super slow crafter, though. lol

I LOVE the birdhouse idea, that would probably be the easiest i would think. ALl you need to do is paint them, maybe a soft wash that lets the grain of the wood show thru woudl be really nice
i woudl love birdhouse fairy houses, and a cute little fairy.

I know you've been going through a lot lately, maybe the fairy houses is too big of a swap for you to take on right now. Heck I feel almost like it's too much for me to take on, and I don't have nearly what you have going on in my life. I really wanted to sign up for more than one group when this swap was first posted, but I knew there was no way I could get it all done and not have my items come out less than I wanted them to be. I don't want to let down the other crafty mamas by sending in stuff that isn't up to everyone elses work, especially since I know everyone is really putting their hearts into this one, along with lots of time and effort.Blessings, Cindy

I've not started on mine yet, though I know what I'm gonna do. I'm hoping to finish my dinos for the dino swap by the end of this week and then work on a prototype of this over the weekend.
I'm gonna try for buttercups or bluebell houses. The house will be the stem and the top will be the flower part. I hope I can craft it as well as I can imagine it
Oh, and group 1 folks - I'm planning on using something sandwiched in the felt to stablize it - either cardboard or plastic canvas. I hope no one has a problem with that.

Hi gals!
Well, I finished all 8 of my cactus houses last night -- they are double-walled with stencil plastic in between. I also dyed the sand playsilks to go with them. Now on to the 6 fairies I need to make! I am going out of town June 23-July 4, and have a TON of swaps due while I am gone. Gotta get them completed and sent before I go!
I will post pics when I get the first set completed!
